Take a break in green Slovenia

Slovenians love their green country. That is why they also brought places for rest closer to the nature. More and more accommodation providers are included in the network of the Slovenia Green label winners. This label ensures holiday in harmony with nature and local environment where particular accommodation is located. Some accommodations pay special attention to the needs of athletes and those who come to Slovenia for active experiences.

There are currently 57 winners of the national sustainable label Slovenia Green Accommodation in Slovenia. Recipients of the label include campsites, tourist resorts, tourist farms and hotels. Boutique and green tourism will certainly play an important role in the post-coronavirus period. Slovenia is aware of this. After it sets the exemplary sustainable guidelines Slovenia now goes one step further and has maintain high hygiene and safety standards, marked with the Green & Safe label.

The glamping resorts became very popular in recent years. Luxury tenting on the one hand offers all the comforts of a hotel room, and on the other hand a genuine contact with nature. Every year in Slovenia we acquire glamping resorts with unique stories related to the beekeeping tradition, chocolate, herbs. Among them, Garden Village Bled was the first to receive six stars according to the World of glamping criteria. Above the Vipava Valley, in a pine grove, the Forest village Theodosius is located. This project was awarded the Snovalec 2019 by the Slovenian Tourist Board for an innovative idea. The first lake glamping village draw the attention of the world media, also due to the gastronomic offer of the restaurant, which boasts a Michelin plate.

Glampings are arranged as independent resorts or as parts of camps and within natural health resorts. There are about 120 campsites in Slovenia, five camps have five stars. Three five-star campsites are located near Pokljuka – Camp Šobec and River Camping Bled on the way from Bled to Lesce and Camping Bled, which is located right next to Lake Bled.

Those who are searching direct contact with nature and the locals will probably choose to spend holidays at the tourist farms. Here you can learn about farm chores, enjoy authentic home-made delicacies and explore the countryside. Specialized hiking and cycling accommodation is intended for active visitors who visit Slovenia for hiking or cycling. Slovenia has 179 mountain lodges, including huts with overnight capacities.

Boutique hotels which can be found in the city centers and near nature have their own charm. Some hotels offer shelter from modern electronic devices, i.e. digital detox. One such hotel is, for example, Sunrose 7 close to the Lake Bohinj. In Jezersko, digital unpluging is offered by Vila Planinka.
